Katy Arnett

**Assessment and Differentiation Specialist**
Katy Arnett earned a Ph.D. in Second Language Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto in 2004. She has taught in a variety of contexts since 1999, including secondary FSL contexts in the U.S. and teacher education contexts in the U.S. and Canada. Katy is currently an associate professor of Educational Studies at St. Mary's College of Maryland, but regularly works with teachers across Canada on issues of inclusion for second language learners. Her first book, *Languages for All: How to Support and Challenge Students in a Second Language Classroom* was published by Pearson Education Canada in 2013.

Cally Mady

**English Language Learner Specialist**
Callie earned a Ph.D. in Second Language Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto in 2007. She brings 24 years of teaching to Pearson: 19 years teaching FSL in southern Ontario and 5 as a professor in the Schulich School of Education of Nipissing University. In her 20 years with the Peel District School board, she taught elementary and secondary Core French, French immersion, extended French, French for the International Baccalaureate Program as well as English as a second language and Spanish. Callie has authored numerous academic publications and made practical contributions to programs such as *Quoi de Neuf,* an Applied Grade 9 resource.

Unionville High School and Barrie North Secondary School implemented Pearson’s Points de Connexion program. As a result, teachers can meet new curriculum requirements, embed culture in lessons and create more opportunities for students to improve their speaking and listening skills.
