Letter from Our Bishops
Dear Friends,
It is with great joy that we present to you Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ—a Religious Education program for the Catholic elementary schools of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. The program has been guided by the Catholic Elementary Curriculum Policy Document for Religious Education, Grades 1-8, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the General Directory for Catechesis. The process has involved many individuals and is the result of a great deal of reflection and consultation. The Bishops are most grateful to all of those who helped make this catechetical program a reality, especially Pearson Canada.
Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ creates strong links between home, school, and parish. The classroom experience helps students to deepen their love of God and their neighbours. Using the best pedagogical practices, the program seeks to engage students in knowing and living their faith. This will not only help them today, but will also prepare them for tomorrow as they grow and mature and make significant contributions to our society as faith-filled Catholics who radiate the joy of believing.
