Atrahasis is a reader’s theatre script for six characters. The book begins with a short summary of this Mesopotamian flood myth and tips for performing reader’s theatre. The poem “The Robin” and an excerpt from the song “The Animal Fair” are provided, as well. The style of the text echoes a traditional, storytelling voice. The roles reflect a range of reading levels to facilitate broad participation.
The traditional script format is enhanced by different coloured type for each character tag. Decorative art gives a sense of setting. Question marks, exclamation marks, dashes, ellipses, and colons are used.
Potentially new words, such as civilized, defied, disembarked, drought, forage, hallucinate, incense, perish, plague, recedes, and unrelenting are defined in the glossary.
