Windows and Mirrors is an anthology of 25 short narrative works intended for Canadian students in grades 10-12. The works include short stories, graphic texts, and narrative poems.

Each selection begins with the author’s biography and includes writing advice and a series of post-reading activities.

Each of the activities follows Bloom’s taxonomy of hierarchical framework:

  • UNDERSTAND questions are the Level 1 content comprehension activities. These function as the basic checkpoint, ensuring students clearly comprehend the story.
  • ANALYZE questions are Level 2 questions that require students to evaluate the efficacy of literary devices and other writing techniques in the story.
  • CREATE questions are Level 3 activities that require students to incorporate this new knowledge into their own writing. By synthesizing learning to generate their own original products, students align themselves with the writers whose work they are exploring.

The series also includes a Teacher Guide with a companion website and a student companion website.
