welcome to mathology.ca this is a teacher platform that contains carefully curated lessons that are curriculum focused engaging and support differentiation by helping teachers identify next steps in math learning here you see the home page where we're able to search in a variety of ways such as keyword using the search bar curriculum or learning progression in the center you see a variety of sample long range pathways i'm going to use grade 3 as an example when you get into the sample long range pathway you see a variety of units along the left-hand side and as you click on the units it opens up through the center beginning with a little book followed by a variety of activities and ending in a consolidation task as we continue through each unit you see a very similar framework as they often begin with little books and continue with activities however if you need to make some changes you're able to use the sample plan to adapt it to meet the needs of your class let's take a closer look at the little book as i click on the little book you'll see information about the lesson in addition to the lesson itself here you can share the student book via the google classroom or microsoft teams as well as clicking on the link you're able to share the url students are able to read and listen to the story and use the audio button to have it read to them they also have access to a follow-up activity to continue working on those skills let's go back to mathology.ca we're able to see some differentiated support here you see a variety of line masters that are modifiable in word format that you can use to meet the needs of your class let's go back and take a look at an activity this time we'll use composing and decomposing quantities here the about tab looks very similar to the little book in addition to about the lesson you have access to the curriculum in my case i'm sitting in an alberta curriculum however your provincial curriculum would be reflected here as well as the learning progression when you go up to the top you have access to the lesson including all the materials that are modifiable for your needs lesson instructions access to student cards that are printable right there on the spot as well as interactive tools if you go back up to the top you'll see that there are assessment and differentiated tabs first i want to show you how it evolves up the grades so let's go back home to be able to access a grade 4 plan in grade 4 5 and 6 it works very similarly in that the units are still curated across the along the left hand side and as you click on them they open up into the center however grade four to six begins with a readiness task as you click on the readiness task you see information about the task as well as details for both the student and teacher version this gives you a sense of your students readiness before beginning a lesson if students are ready for the new learning you're able to go right into the first lesson of the unit and if they need further support it will link to previous grades in order to support that learning if you go back and we click into the first lesson you'll see that many of the features are very similar including the materials in the lesson structure however there have been some additions as we move up the grades things like exit tickets practice and even lesson slides that you can share with your students again via google classroom and microsoft teams this time we'll go into the assessment tab where you're able to keep track of student learning as you see a student show a certain behavior or strategy you can click on them and drag them into the box when i click on the next steps i'm provided with next steps in the moment to help me move them along the continuum as i move back up to the top i'm able to see next steps here i have access to both mini lessons for those that need intervention and extension activities some possible misconceptions as well as next steps in class and at home if i scroll back up i'm able to access the analytics tab where it's gathering data in the classroom both for your whole class and individual students if i set the grade to grade 3 to see how my grade 3 class is doing you'll quickly see at a glance how the whole class is progressing by looking at the status you're able to quickly see those that are on track in progress or need some more attention all of this can be printed for ease of use as you scroll back up to the top you're also able to access individual students where you're able to see how they're doing along the way let's go back home for some final tips if you need additional support along the way please click on the bulletin board for extra tips and suggestions mathology.ca works towards creating joyful and positive math stories for both students and yourself for more information please go to dot www.pearsonmathology.ca
