[Music] welcome to mathology.ca in this video i'm going to show you some of the tools that will help you with assessing student learning mathology.ca helps you to determine what students know and how to move them forward let's start with using one of the activities i've pinned to the front page counting to 50. we'll go directly into the assessment tab at the top you see that i've created a class you can create your own class by going to the drop down menu in the top right corner and clicking on student management once you've done that you've got all your students in the platform and you're able to use this tool to keep track of strategies and behaviors you observe along the way for example if you saw camille struggling with the counting sequence you may drag and drop her into the first box you can even write a note perhaps she said 4 5 8 9 10. that will keep track as you continue to assess camille and move her from one box to the next along the continuum if you look at the next steps you're able to see next steps in the moment as well as additional next steps in this case these students may need an intervention if you click on the intervention it will take you right to the mini lesson but i'll show you another way to access that i'm going to close this and scroll right back up to the top where you're able to access all the mini lessons to support counting to 50. here you see on-grade two interventions as well as an extension all of them that are printable as you continue to do a variety of assessments and keep track of student learning you may be wondering where all the data goes here you're able to access all the analytics both for your class and individual students let's click on the class analytics to see what kind of data i've already collected in the grade 1 demo account you can see the curriculum view i'm going to narrow it down to grade 1 and you'll notice that only the assessed expectations are showing up let's focus on number sense and click the drop down menu to see the specific expectations or sorry the specific activities that have been used to address that overall expectation if you pay attention to the status this is where you can see how your class is doing as a whole in this case they're right on track for financial literacy trades but they also are in progress for some other activities in addition you may want to take a closer look at individual students when you click on the student view you're able to narrow it down to individual students let's focus in on jaden here in the curriculum view you're able to go in the same way click the drop down menu and see his status for each and every activity here you see that for some of the activities he's right on track others he may need attention and others he's in progress if i click on the details for the lesson we just looked at i can see an additional comment you can keep track of the comments right here that will help in conversations with both families and colleagues if you scroll right down to the bottom you can also export and print this information for each individual student let's go back home and recap there are lots of opportunities to assess throughout the lesson and keep track of class and individual student learning over time and you can find that here in the analytics you
