comprises three main sections a toolbar across the top a left-hand menu and a main e-guide page in the center let's start by dissecting the toolbar in browse view using the top toolbar Using the Top Toolbar search box Search Box the e-guide is fully searchable which means you can also type words phrases and names in the search box this takes you to the search tab where your search results are displayed click on a thumbnail to go directly to the page on which your search term appears your searches will also be saved on the left hand side for quick reference Page Navigation Tools page navigation tools this group of tools is for navigating through pages of the eguide you can click on the forward and backward arrows to turn the pages or type a page number in the data field to jump directly to that page you can view the e-guide in single page view or as a two-page spread to open the left-hand menu in two-page view click on the double-arrow to the left Page Display Tools page display tools this next group of tools is for zooming in or zooming out on a page adjust the level of zoom on a page either by clicking the magnifying glass icons or by entering a percentage value in the data field you can also select fit to width to stretch the eguide page across your screen or select fit to page to see the entire page within your screen Highlighting and Note Tools highlighting and note tools this group of tools is for interacting with the e-guide page let's take a closer look at the highlighter and note tools you can create highlights anywhere on the page you can also create notes anywhere on the page to include a web link in your note highlight a word or series of words and type the url in the data field below press enter you also have the option to share a note with your students to do so you must first create a course for instructions on how to do this How to Use Your eGuide please refer to how to use your e-guide in the getting started baskets once this is done click share with students then click save this will automatically send the note to every student enrolled in your course once you create a note on a page the corresponding page number automatically appears in the notes area click on a page number here to navigate directly to that note Bookmark Tool bookmark tool bookmarks are a very useful feature of the e-guide you can bookmark as many pages as desired the page numbers will appear in the bookmarks area of the left-hand menu clicking on a page number takes you directly to the corresponding page to delete a bookmark simply click on the bookmark tool again glossary tool Glossary Tool the dictionary icon represents the glossary once the glossary window is open select a letter of the alphabet to quickly take you to the first term in that category you can also use the scroll bar on the right hand side to find the exact term you need Link Tool link tool you can also show or hide hotspot links on the page the links icon in the toolbar is automatically highlighted to indicate that links are displayed to hide links and other clickable items simply deactivate this icon Using Whiteboard Tools using whiteboard tools whiteboard tool next is whiteboard view this view of the e-guide is optimized for use with a whiteboard and projector notice that whiteboard view is less cluttered and contains one simplified toolbar allowing the content to display largely and clearly nevertheless there are plenty of tools available on this toolbar wrench or settings tool selecting the wrench expands the settings tools which give you the ability to select the last page visited show or hide highlights and links and change the spread from single page to two-page view in whiteboard view you also have the option to move the toolbar to the right bottom or left hand side pen tool the pen icon expands the drawing tool options there is a scribble pen for freehand drawing the option to draw using shapes and multiple colors selecting the broom icon clears all marks on the page Page Navigation and Display Tools page navigation and display tools the zoom and navigation tools are also accessible in whiteboard view they basket Line Masters Basket third is line masters where you will find a complete listing of all line masters and assessment masters that apply to lessons and historical thinking challenges these documents are available in microsoft word and pdf formats Printables Basket printables basket next is the printables basket by unit and by chapter teachers can print answers to questions posed in the text a modifiable question bank planning charts that facilitate lesson plans and chapter summaries that identify key information for students static images such as a timeline of the 20th century
