your eext page icons within the eext pages and baskets under the leftand Opening Icons menu for teachers opener icons appear on the first page of each chapter and unit in making connections let's take a minute to explain the information included under each icon teacher set of icons include the following as s for assess PL L for planning material l e for lesson support i n for inquiry and en en for engage assess contains the question Bank assessment Masters and performance tasks and culminating task rubrics planning material includes unit or chapter planners curriculum correlations inquiry Frameworks and a link to the teachability website lesson support provides sample lesson plans osslt activity support Geographic thinking cont concept support and skills activity support and line Masters inquiry contains Geo inquiry activities chapter big question support appropriate line Masters and rubrics and teacher tip sheets engage provides arcgis geof flight Web 2.0 a link to the geoc careers website go online activities and additional web resources students have access to different opener icons which only appear at the beginning of each chapter and include the following re for which shows all of the hotspots icons and features of the IDE or student view which shows only the hotspots and icons accessible to students in the eext let's zoom in for a closer Hot Spots look hotspots refer to clickable areas on the page that bring up further information images or activities there are 13 types of hotspots available in making connections all images within the eext are hotspots clicking on them opens the image in a larger window for closeup viewing image captions that ask open-ended questions are hotspots as well teachers can click on these to find answers and support for these questions thinking critically features ask students to critically analyze an issue or concept presented on the page teachers can click these features to find answers and support for them activities that utilize argis an interactive map building tool can be found under argis online hotspots like this one click on the big question at the beginning of every chapter for support in answering abstract Geographic queries go online features are also hotspots you can click on them for links to more information about the content content on the page click on any of the phrases in the key terms box to jump directly to the page on which the term appears read definitions discover uses and understand context by clicking on geoc careers features students and teachers can gain valuable insight into geography related jobs Awards and associations by visiting the geoc careers portal both students and teachers can access geolight files scripts and student and teacher support notes by clicking on the geof flight features in the margin clicking on Geo inquiry hotspots brings up activities that support and enhance the inquiry process osslt icons are placed within image captions chapter questions and text paragraphs they link to activities and support that prepare students for the Ontario Secondary School literacy test skills Focus Features are hotspots they include notes and activities that hone students ability to ask effective questions evaluate information sources interpret data and More in reflect and analyze Activities The Heading analyze an issue is a hotspot students can find advice on answering these questions here while teachers can find support and Sample answers some resources are found under icons on the page Making Connections includes three types of icons and its Pages it is important to note that icons appear in both the student eext and the teacher EEG guide however icons for teachers will include answers and supplementary information that their student counterparts will not support under the literacy tip icon helps students improve their reading comprehension and writing skills there are notes to guide teachers too when in instructor view answers to chapter questions are located under this check mark icon note that only teachers can see this clicking on this icon gives you Web 2.0 activities featuring online tools applications and Baskets resources notice the left hand menu to the left of the eext this is where most of the support for teachers is housed let's zoom in for a closer look in the left hand menu users have what we
