Intro hello and welcome to the brief overview of how to use your interactive eguide the e guide is comprised of three main sections a tool bar across the top a left-hand menu and a main etext page in the center let's start by dissecting the toolbar this group of tools is for page Page Navigation Tools navigation you can click on the forward and backward arrows to turn the pages or type a page number in the input box to jump directly to that page you can view the e-text in single pageview or as a two-page spread to open the left hand menu win in two page view you can click on the double arrow to the left this next group of tools is for zooming in or zooming out on a page adjust the level of zoom on a page either by clicking the magnifying glass icons or by entering a percentage value in the data field you can also select fit to width to stretch the e-text page across your screen or select fit to page to see the entire page within your screen Highlighting and Notes Tools this group of tools is for interacting with the e-text page let's take a closer look at the highlighter and notes tools you can create highlights anywhere on the page you can also create notes anywhere on the page notes can include a web link you also have the option to share a note with your students to share a note with students you must first create a course for instructions on how to do this please refer to how to use your e guide in the getting started basket once this is done click Save this will automatically send the note to all students once you create a note on the page that page number automatically appears in the notes area clicking on the page number then takes you directly to the note bookmarks are a very useful feature of your e guide you can bookmark as many pages as desired the page numbers will appear in the bookmarks area of the left hand menu clicking on a page number then takes you directly to that page to delete a bookmark simply click on the bookmark tool again Glossary Tool this icon represents the glossary there are a few options for user to search for a word to view the definition you can select a letter in the alphabet to quickly take you to the appropriate word or simply use the scroll bar on the right hand side because the e-text is fully searchable you can also type words phrases and names in the search box you are now in the search tab and your search results appear below clicking on a thumbnail will take you to the page with your search term highlighted on that page your searches will also be saved on the left hand side for quick reference you can also show or hide hotspot links on the page the links icon in the toolbar is automatically highlighted to indicate that links are displayed to hide the links simply click on the icon Whiteboard Tool next is the whiteboard view this view of the e-text is optimized for viewing with a whiteboard and projector notice that the whiteboard view is less cluttered and contains only one simplified toolbar allowing for maximum viewing of the page content there are several tools available on this toolbar selecting the Wrench (Settings) Tool wrench expands the settings tools which gives you the ability to select the last page visited show or hide highlights and links and change the page spread from single page 22 page view in the whiteboard view you also have the option to move the toolbar to the right bottom or left hand side this icon expands the drawing tool Pen Tool options there is a scribble pen for freehand drawing three different options to draw using shapes and multiple colors you selecting this icon clears all of the scribbles the zoom and navigation tools are also accessible in this mode clicking this icon brings you back to browse view over here in the left hand menu you have what can be referred to as baskets the first basket is the table of contents this is arranged as a standard folder tree hierarchy it is very simple and straightforward to use Getting Started this next basket contains quick reference tip sheets about how to use the e guide video demonstrations of the e guide features and notes for tablet users after that is line masters well Line Masters you will find a complete listing of all line masters and assessment masters that apply to lessons inquiry skills activities apply it or reflect and analyze questions and OSS LTE activities the question Bank performance task rubrics culminating task rubrics and geo inquiry teacher tip sheets are also included these documents are available in microsoft word and PDF format next is Printables the printables basket by unit and by chapter teachers can print answers to questions posed in the text a modifiable question bank planning charts that facilitate lesson plans and summary notes that identify key information within the chapter for students the notes basket contains links to all the pages where you have created notes you can simply click on a page number to go directly to that page to view your notes this basket also contains the notes manager opening up the notes manager allows you to view and search all of your notes in one convenient place the bookmarks basket contains links
