there's so much available to us as
teachers today available on the internet
available from the instructional
programs we have and in a way do the
math is another option in do the math
what i try to do is pare down all the
things that we've learned over the years
my colleagues and i and offer them in a
sequential step-by-step scaffolded way
so teachers feel comfortable that they
are truly developing the understanding
and the skills
that students need
over the years i've helped teachers in
two specific ways one is i've helped
them more deeply understand the math
they have to teach you can't teach what
you don't understand the other is that i
offer specific instructional strategies
for helping their students develop
understanding and skills
do the math helps in both of these areas
what my hope for do the math is that
offers teachers support for feeling good
about their instruction that they can
see their students learning they can see
their students being excited about math
do the math we offer what we've learned
and how to make it accessible to you and
hopefully for your students as well
